Executive Director Todd Bartlett Introduces this important communications theme for 2018
In the coming year it is our plan with this weekly e-newsletter to share with you about the Seven Foundations of United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries.
The 7 Foundations of United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries (nationally, UMCRM) began with a prayerful discernment centered on two specific questions:
These questions sparked two national summits attended by many United Methodist camp and retreat leaders who gathered to listen and come to a shared vision. The resulting 7 foundations are the fruit of those important gatherings.
Today’s post introduces you to the Seven Foundations. Beginning next week, the pattern will be similar for each of the seven: I will write about the foundation, which will be followed by what that foundation looks like at each of our sites in the following 6 weeks. I have asked each of our directors to write about each foundation, so you will have the opportunity to hear different voices and get to know each of our sites and directors through their words.
The Seven Foundations, our mission statement, Safe Sanctuary policies, and the American Camp Association (ACA) standards all guide us in our work and ministry. Each of these elements plays a role in our being able to live fully into who God calls us to be and what God has called us to do in our ministry.
The Seven Foundations for Camp and Retreat Ministries:
Alongside the rest of the staff, I look forward to sharing about these elements with you, and hearing which of these inspires you. I am also curious to hear your suggestions as to how we can improve our execution of these elements in our common ministry.
See you around the campfire soon,
